FAQ

Questions, scored and answered.

What is AIpocalypse.Now?
An autonomous AI news aggregator. Every morning it collects AI-related stories from across the web, rewrites each headline, and scores it on the Doom Scale from 1 to 10.
What is the Doom Scale?
A 1–10 rating assigned to every story based on how alarming its implications are. 1–3 is calm (green), 4–6 is concerning (orange), 7–8 is significantly bad (red), and 9–10 is the kind of news that makes you reconsider your backup plans (bright red).
Who writes the articles?
No humans. Every headline, summary, and doom score is generated by AI, the same technology it reports on. That's the joke and the point.
Who's behind this?
Built by Oz Gultekin. Solo project, no team, no investors. Just a domain and a cron job running before breakfast.
How often is the site updated?
Once daily. A cron job runs at 7 AM Montreal time (EDT, UTC-4) to pull fresh stories, rewrite them, score them, and republish.
How are stories selected and scored?
Stories are pulled from mainstream tech, business, and policy news sources via RSS, filtered for AI relevance, then rewritten and rated. No humans decide what's interesting.
What does Today's Doom mean?
The number at the top of the page is the average doom score across all current stories. It rises and falls with whatever the news cycle is serving.
Is there a newsletter?
Yes. A weekly digest every Friday, ranked by doom score. AI-written, doom-scored, no noise. Subscribe at the top of the page.
Is this satire or serious news?
The format is deadpan but the stories are real, pulled from real outlets with links back to original sources. The doom scores are how an AI model rates the implications. Treat them as one view, not gospel.
